« Budapest is the only capital in the world where taking the waters of the many mineral springs has been part of everyday life for centuries. At the city’s 32 bath installations, fed by 120 springs, the pace of life has hardly quickened since the Romans, and later the Turks, discovered the curative properties of the local water. But today’s seekers of health and relaxation find some things their predecessors could not have imagined, like the padded headrests and chess-boards mounted above the Gellert Bath. »
